Heritage in Schools Visit

On Friday 4th March, Susan O'Donoghue, from the Heritage in Schools Scheme came to visit the school to give a presentation on biodiversity, conservation, mammals and birds in our area. With Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First class, she gave a short informal talk on wildlife in Corofin focusing on birds. The children had the opportunity to inspect feathers, wings, skulls, feet and nests of various animals and birds. There was music and puppet fun all about birds of prey. With Second to Fourth class, she made a presentation on the wildlife of Corofin and the children went on an outdoor bird walk and played some games in relation to fauna in our area. The older classes listenend to a presentation on the heritage and wildlife of Corofin as well as the history of the Workhouse and St Catherine's Church. They had the opportunity to visit the Workhouse while learning about the local wildlife also. Please click on the image below to see pictures from a very informative and hands-on day!
