Scoil Mhuire Náisiúnta Cora Finne

Proclamation Day

Tuesday March 15th has been designated 'Proclamation Day' for all schools in the country - a day to commemorate and reflect upon the events of 100 years ago. At 11:15am on Tuesday 15th March, we invite you and friends to join us for our commemoration. The programme of events will include music, displays, readings and poetry. A major focus of the event will be the reading of the original Proclamation and the unveiling and reading of our own school's 'Proclamation for a new Generation' which has been produced by pupils from 5th & 6th class. The idea behind this is to encourage pupils to reflect and re-interpret the Proclamation.

We are delighted that the newly formed Cumann Staire is Dúchas Chora Finne have accepted our invitation to join us. They have kindly offered to make presentations based on national and local events around the 1916 theme. Events will culminate in raising the National Flag. We have invited past pupil and former Minister for Defence Tony Killeen to carry out this task and it should take place at 12 noon approximately.

Sincere thanks in advance to members of our Parents' Association who have kindly offered to provide light refreshments to those present on the day. The event will culminate with a monster Ceilí at 1pm approx. and you are all invited to join us for this fun event and celebration of our Irish tradition and culture.
