Ms. Miriam Macnamara-Fifth/Sixth Class

There's no place like home!

Recently, fifth and sixth class were investigating the different places that people live in Geography. From that, we decided to recreate replicas of our own houses. Please click on the picture below to see some of the houses we built!

French Classes

Funding for the resumption of French classes for pupils in 6th class is being provided by the Parents' Association. The classes will be delivered over 10 hourly sessions by Bernadette Malone. This is a fantastic opportunity for the pupils of 6th class to get a taster of a foreign language before they enter secondary school.

We were delighted to hear that our letters made it to our friends in France. Here is a picture of those pupils.

They kindly sent us over some Christmas cards, which was a lovely surprise. Here are some pictures of us with the cards we received. We made sure to send them some Christmas cards also!

Twinning with Tonquedec

We recently received letters from the class that we are twinning with in Tonquedec, France. We were very impressed by their level of English and their lovely styles of handwriting. We have written our own letters to them and look forward to hearing from them again.

Pupils from Fifth and Sixth class have recently started using a new maths product called Isak9.

Izak9 tasks are delivered from the whiteboard at the front of the class, via the internet.

Children work together in small groups using real cubes to not only solve the number, algebra, data and shape / space problems posed, but also to develop ideas and create tasks and questions of their own.

The children are enjoying the challenging tasks so far. Thanks to Ms. O'Connor who has been joining us to lend a helping hand.

Comhgairdeachas NIamh

Well done to our Fifth Class pupil Niamh Kinnane, who recently had a piece of her writing published in the Seachtain Óg supplement that comes with the Irish Independent every Wednesday. Last year, Niamh wrote a poem about Séan Foster Óg, a child who was killed during the 1916 Rising. Congratulations on your first publication Niamh!!
