Green Schools Water Forum

On Monday 3rd March, members of the Green Schools Committee attended a Water Forum in the West County Hotel Ennis. This was provided by An Taisce in partnership with Irish Water. Pupils engaged in activites and were given the opportunity to share their ideas and knowledge as well as learn all about how to successfully carry out the water theme. Eight Clare schools were in attendance and each committee designed their 'ideal water school' and also worked on their action plan for water. It was a very informative day and great fun was had. Energy Flag Award

Scoil Mhuire Náisiúnta Corofin and it's Green Schools Committee are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the International Green Flag for energy!! Over the last two years, both pupils and staff have been working together to reduce the amount of energy we are using as a school. We did this by switching off lights when we left a room, making sure appliances were turned off when not in use, completing an energy survey, recording kilowatts of energy being used, studying the ESB bills and by holding a Low Energy Day. As well as this, we maintained our Litter and Waste Flag by continuing with our recycling projects and keeping our school lovely and clean. The Award ceremony will be held in Galway on 21st May and four representatives from our school will attend in order to accept our second Green Flag. We will host our Green Flag Raising Ceremony at a later date. Congratulations to everyone involved in this great achievement!
